How much grant can you get to remove an asbestos roof?
Enter the size of your roof and we show the estimated grant from the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) by band, the indicative removal cost and the share it would cover.
Not sure of the size? A single-storey house usually has 60 to 120 m² of roof. We'll measure it by satellite for your quote.
Estimated ARC grant**
€2,250 – €3,200
Up to the cost of removal excluding VAT: at the lower end of the range, the grant would equal that cost.
Indicative cost of removal***
€2,250 – €3,200
+ VAT (€2,723 – €3,872 incl. VAT).
With the grant, you would still pay for the removal
€473 – €672
VAT included. The grant does not cover VAT or the new roof.
Not covered by the grant: VAT and the new roof. The grant is not guaranteed: it depends on a call being opened, on its rules and on the budget available, and it is paid after the works.
Calculated with the 2026 brackets. The call is closed: this is what you could receive if it is convened again with the same rules.
The ARC (Catalan Waste Agency) grant scheme is only for properties in Catalonia. In other regions of Spain, we'll tell you which grants are available.

Maximum €30,000 per property.
| Area removed | Grant |
|---|---|
| Under 50 m² | €2,000 flat |
| 50 to 99 m² | €40/m² |
| 100 to 499 m² | €30/m² |
| 500 to 999 m² | €25/m² |
| 1,000 m² or more | €20/m² |
We apply the bracket amount to the whole area (e.g. 80 m² × €40/m² = €3,200). The rules of each call for applications prevail: we check the calculation against your application.
How we work out the grant
We apply the bands of the ARC call to the roof area removed, with the maximum per property set by each call, and cap it at the cost of the removal: the grant never pays more than the removal costs. VAT and the new roof are not eligible.
The ARC call is only for properties in Catalonia. In other regions of Spain we tell you which grants are available. If you want us to apply for you, Grants explains how we prepare the application, file it on your behalf and follow it up.
