Which roof should replace my uralita?

When the uralita comes off, you need to decide what goes in its place. The most common choice for homes is the sandwich panel: two metal sheets with an insulating core that go up quickly, weigh little and insulate far better than fibre cement. If the council or the owners' association requires a traditional look, there is the tile-effect panel, with the same insulation.

Corrugated metal sheet is the cheapest, but it doesn't insulate: it makes sense for storerooms, sheds or industrial buildings that aren't lived in. Ceramic tile on boarding lasts longest, but it is much heavier than uralita and means the structure must be checked before deciding.
