How many solar panels fit on your roof?
We measure your roof by satellite and give you the maximum number of panels, the main orientation and an indicative installation price.
How we calculate the panels
With your address we get the coordinates from the Catastro and look up the satellite measurement of the roof: area, pitch and orientation of each roof slope, and the maximum number of panels that fit allowing for shade and obstacles. If your roof isn't covered by the measurement, you can type in the square metres and we estimate roughly one panel per 6 m².
For a home we suggest a standard installation of up to 12 panels (about 5 kWp), which usually covers a good part of a family's daytime consumption. Each panel of about 440 W takes up just under 2 m². The reference price is €1,300 to €1,650 per kWp, installed and legalised.
If your roof is asbestos cement (uralita), it has to be replaced first. Solar panels cannot be installed on asbestos cement: it must be removed by personnel registered in the RERA (Spain's register of companies at asbestos risk) and a new roof put on. Frequently asked questions
Is the satellite measurement accurate?
It is a very close estimate for unobstructed roofs. Trees, chimneys or recent changes can affect it: the technician confirms it during the visit before the fixed quote.
Which orientation is best?
South, south-east and south-west produce the most. East and west also work well in almost all of Spain, with slightly lower output. North only if the pitch is very shallow.
