Solar panels to cut your electricity bill, on a safe roof
For homes, apartment buildings, industrial buildings and farms in Spain. Solar panels cannot be installed on an asbestos-cement (uralita) roof: we replace the roof and mount the panels on the new one, in a single project.

What the installation includes
- Technician's visit and roof study: orientation, shading and number of panels.
- Panels, inverter and mounting frame, installed by qualified installers.
- If the roof is asbestos cement (uralita), the roof replacement as part of the same works (solar panels cannot be installed on uralita).
- Council permit and legalisation of the installation.
- Help signing up for surplus compensation (credit on your bill for the energy you export).
How much do solar panels cost?
A typical home installation with 12 panels, installed and legalised. The final price depends on the roof, the inverter and whether you add a battery.***
€6,900 – €8,750
+ VAT · €8,349 – €10,588 incl. VAT · 12 panels, 5.3 kWp

Frequently asked questions
Can I put solar panels on an asbestos-cement (uralita) roof?
No. Only personnel registered in the RERA may drill or handle fibre cement, and it does not give a safe anchor either. The right way is to replace the roof and mount the panels on the new one, in the same project.
How much does it cost to replace the roof and add solar panels?
As a guide, for a 60-100 m² home, removal and the new roof come to between €5,000 and €9,500 + VAT, and adding about 5 kWp of solar panels brings the total to €12,000-17,000 + VAT. In Catalonia, the ARC grant for the removal is deducted afterwards; in other regions of Spain we tell you which grants are available. We give you the range from your address and the fixed price from photos or after the visit.
Do I need a permit from the town council?
Yes, both the roof replacement and the solar panels need a works notice or licence, depending on the municipality. We handle it and, if we do both at once, it all goes in the same application when the council allows it.
What happens to the energy I don't use?
It goes into the grid and your electricity supplier deducts it from your bill under the simplified surplus compensation scheme (compensación simplificada de excedentes). We help you sign up once the installation is legalised.
Are there grants for solar panels?
In Catalonia, the ARC grant covers the uralita removal, not the solar panels; in other regions of Spain we tell you which grants are available. For solar PV, depending on the case and the year, there may be Spanish income tax (IRPF) deductions and, in some municipalities, reductions in property tax (IBI) or in the building works tax (ICIO). We tell you which ones apply in your municipality when we prepare the quote.
Does my roof face the right way?
Roofs facing south, south-east or south-west produce the most, but in most of Spain roofs facing east or west also work well. The calculator gives you the main orientation and the technician confirms it during the visit.

Solar panels and uralita: the order matters
Many houses and industrial buildings all over Spain have a fibre-cement roof installed before 2002. They are roofs with a good surface area and often a good orientation: perfect candidates for solar panels. The problem is the material. Solar panels cannot be installed on an asbestos-cement (uralita) roof: we replace the roof and mount the panels on the new one, in a single project.
The right order is always the same: first the uralita is removed, by personnel registered in the RERA with an approved work plan; then the new roof is fitted (usually insulated sandwich panel) and, on top of it, the frame and the solar panels. Doing it as a single project avoids putting up the scaffolding twice and means the permits can be applied for together.
For a home, an installation of about 5 kWp (12 panels) usually covers a good part of daytime consumption. The market price is around €1,300-1,650 per kWp, installed and legalised. Industrial buildings, with roofs of hundreds of square metres, allow much larger installations: we quote them after the visit.
In Catalonia, the Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) grant covers the uralita removal per square metre removed, not the solar panels; in other regions of Spain we tell you which grants are available. Work out how much it could cover with the grant calculator and how many panels fit with the solar panel calculator.
