Asbestos and uralita, region by region
Official data for each Spanish region (INE census), its asbestos rules, RERA authority and grants, with the price of each service.
In short
In Spain, 49 % of main homes were built before 1980 (2021 Census); asbestos was banned in 2002. Only Catalonia requires an asbestos certificate to sell or rent; everywhere, removal is done by a RERA-registered company with an approved work plan.
Data checked on 14 October 2026.
